Splash Pools should be your first contact after severe weather like tropical storms and hurricanes! (850) 549-5315
The best way to prepare for bad weather is to start well in advance, not just right before a storm moves through the area!
Here is a quick checklist to help you prepare and protect your swimming pool area for storms ahead.
To begin, trim any trees and bushes around your swimming area. Also, clear out any foliage that is dead or hanging over your pool or spa so you will not have to worry about a bigger mess!
One important note – do not drain your pool! Emptied, or dry swimming pools can experience serious damage and structural problems. In the worst case, pools can even be lifted off their foundations!
Keeping sufficient water levels in your pool helps to hold the sides and bottom in place, as well as protecting the surface from any debris that may fall in during a storm.
Next, major storms bring heavy rains. If you have a deck, make sure water drains from it as quickly as possible. You want maximum water to flow off your deck, especially during heavy rains.
Also, store all pool toys and patio furniture in a secure area. Failing to do so will result in flying projectiles around your swimming pool area!
Finally, close up your patio umbrellas to prevent the wind from hoisting it up and taking flight. This helps prevent possible damage to your pool screen enclosure and surrounding areas.
